Newsies to premiere in the round


It has been confirmed that Newsies will receive its UK premiere at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, where it will be staged in the round.

The show is set to begin performances on 28 November 2022, directed and choreographed by Matt Cole. Tickets go on sale in May.

Cast announced for Carousel at Kilworth House Theatre

Casting has been announced for Carousel at Kilworth House Theatre with Emma Kingston staring as Julie Jordan with Matt Blaker as Billy Bigelow.

They will be joined by Julie Yamannee as Carrie Pipperidge, Tom Steling as Enoch Snow, Madalena Alberto as Nettie Fowler, George Maddison as Jigger Craig and Lara Denning as Mrs Mullin.

The role of Louise Bigelow will be played by Genevieve Heron with Kevin Brewis as Mr Bascombe, Charles Butcher as Young Enoch, Alastair Postlewaite as Carnival Boy and Alan Vicory as Dr Seldon.

The ensemble includes Stuart Rouse, Gareth Moran, Diante Lodge, Luke Jarvis, Rhodri Watkins, Joseph Craig, Libby Waits, Rebecca Jayne French, Alice Readie, Aoife Kenny, Chloe Saunders and Jemima Loddy.

Date set for this year’s Tony Awards

It has been announced that the 2022 Tony Awards will take place at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday 12 June, with the nominations due to be announced on May 3.

The four hour long ceremony will be shown as an hour long show on Paramount then a 3 hour long show on CBS, with UK broadcast plans yet unknown.

Olivier Award Nominations Announced

Nominations have been announced for this years Olivier awards, with Caberet, Life of Pi and Anything Goes leading the way with the most nominations.

Caberet received 11 nods, including best actor and best actress nominations for Eddie Redmayne and Jessie Buckley, with Anything Goes receiving nods in the same category. The seven actors who play the role of the tiger in Life of Pi have also been nominated.

Frozen, Moulin Rouge and Back to the Future also did very well, receiving multiple nods.

The ceremony is due to take place on 10 April at the Royal Albert Hall

Hound of the Baskervilles to stream online

Original Theatre have this week announced that a proshot recording of their hit UK touring production of The Hound of the Baskervilles will be released on demand online, available to watch from April 14 to July 31.

The production, which stars Jake Ferretti, Serena Manteghi and Niall Ransome, had audiences up and down the country in stitches with this hilarious retelling of the classic tale, with the cast playing multiple parts.
