The news that has had theatre land talking this week includes


Further casting announced for the UK Tour of Strictly Ballroom


It has been announced that former Eastenders actress and Strictly Come dancing finalist Maisie Smith will join the previously announced Kevin Clifton in the UK Tour of Strictly Ballroom, marking her musical theatre debut.

The tour is due to kick off in Portsmouth on 26 September 2022 before visiting. Bromley, Sunderland, Liverpool, Llandudno, Birmingham, Wimbledon, Darlington, Blackpool, Peterborough, Sheffield, Guildford, Ipswich, Reading, Cardiff, Plymouth, Truro, Wolverhampton, Southampton, Northampton, Hull, Canterbury, Southend, Bradford, Milton Keynes, Norwich, Bournemouth, York, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Derry, Glasgow, Aylesbury, Nottingham, Salford, Leeds, and culminating in Bristol on 15 July 2023.

Felicia Boswell to join the cast of The Drifter’s Girl

Felicia Boswell is to take over the role of Faye Treadwell in The Drifters Girl from Beverley Knight, it has been confirmed.

Boswell has previously starred in Jesus Christ Superstar, Memphis and Motown with her role in The Drifter’s Girl marking her West End Debut.

The show is currently booking at the Garrick Theatre until 12 February 2023.

Stranger Things star to return to Broadway

Having previously starred in the broadway productions of Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Les Miserables, Gaten Matarazzo, now best known for his role in Stranger Things will be returning to Broadway this summer

The actor will play the role of Jared Kleinman in Dear Evan Hansen for a limited run from July 19. Ann Sanders, Noah Kieserman and Ciara Alyse Harris will also join the cast that day.

Acts announced for West End Live

The acts for this years west End Live have been announced this week, with the event taking place on 25 and 26 June

Shows taking part include & Juliet, Back to the Future, Beauty and the Beast, Bonnie and Clyde, The Book of Mormon, the concert versions of Chess, Kinky Boots and Treason, The Choir of Man, Come from Away, Dear Evan Hansen, The Drifter’s Girl, Fantastically Great women Who Changed the world, Frozen, Get Up Stand Up, Grease, The Great Gatsby, Hamilton, Jersey Boys, Heathers, Legally Blonde, The Lion King, Magic Mike, Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins, Matilda, Les Miserables, Moulin Rouge, The Phantom of the Opera, Only Fools and Horses, Pretty Women, Six, South Pacific, Tina and Wicked

Full casting announced for Sister Act

Full casting has been announced for the London run of Sister act, which plays at the Eventim Apollo this summer.

As previously announced, Beverley Knight will play Deloris Van Cartier, with Jennifer Saunders as Mother Superior, Clive Rowe as Eddie Souther, Lizzie Bea as Sister Mary Robert, Keala Settle as Sister Mary Patrick and Leslie Joseph as Mary Lazarus,

Jeremy Secomb will play Curtis Jackson with Graham McDuff as Monsignor O’Hara, Tricia Deighton as Sister Mary Theresa, Lori Haley Fox as Sister Mary Martin of Tours, Tom Hopcroft as Joey, Bradley Judge as TJ and Tanya Edwards as Tina.

Catherine Millsom, Anne Smith, Emma Ralston, Jermaine Woods, Michael Ward, Caroline Bateson, Damian Buhagiar, Gabrielle Davina Smith, Castell Parker, Tanisha Butterfield, Jamie Jonathan and Marina Tavolieri complete the cast.
